Effective strategy to crack SSC CGL 2018 in the first attempt

Every year Staff Selection Commission notifies SSC CGL, SSC CHSL, etc., posts for various government departments. It follows regular time table of notifications. These exams are conducted at All India Level and thus have high competition. Out of all SSC CGL is the most preferred exam by the graduates as it offers Officer level posts.  Generally, students do not wait for the notification and they keep SSC CGL Exam preparation ongoing. Syllabus is very vast for subjects like Mathematics and General Studies which needs more time.  To cover the entire syllabus one needs at least 4-5 months to make the preparation exam-effective where as notification allows only 2 months approximately for preparation. Notifications are released two months before the exam therefore those who are already preparing for the said exam do not find it difficult to appear in SSC CGL Exam.

  1. Find out the proper syllabus of SSC CGL Exam by visiting its official website.
  2. Tier 1 question paper has four sections and all of them are equally important.
  3. Syllabus generally includes the topics already read in higher secondary level which makes it easier for you to decide about your strengths and weaknesses.
  4. After knowing your strengths and weaknesses, it is advisable to start with your strength areas. It will boost your confidence and you will feel a good start of your exam preparation.
  5. In the recent notification of SSC CGL Tier-1 timing has been reduced to 60 minutes for 100 questions instead of 80 minutes. It means that one has to work on the speed management also.
  6. One must solve previous year questions as every year questions are repeated. The chances of repetition are more as Tier 1 is conducted in multiple shifts.
  7. To master Quant section, one should learn and remember all the formulas and concepts. There are questions which are directly based on formula and if one forgets then they tend to lose marks if they are not aware of the basic formula.
  8. Prepare English language effectively by going through the grammar rules thoroughly.
  9. In General Studies Section, Current Affairs are getting more important every year. Current affairs related to Sports, Awards, Appointments, Dates, Summits are important
  10. “Practice is the ultimate key to success”., therefore practice as much as one can to make oneself perfect. Develop the habit of attempting at least one mock test every day after studying in your usual time table.
