Preparation Tips for Tier 3 Descriptive Paper in SSC CGL 2018 Examination

SSC CGL Tier III Exam is conducted in Pen and Paper mode. It is held to examine the language proficiency of a candidate. The medium of this paper is English or Hindi, therefore, one need to be proficient in the language they have opted to write the exam before appearing in the exam.   • At times summary is not asked then Letter/Application will carry 40 marks and Essay will be of 60 marks.
  • Maximum time allowed for the paper is 1 hour.
  • It is a bilingual exam i.e one can choose to write either in English or Hindi.
  1. After going thoroughly with the exam pattern, start preparing for effective writing by reading newspaper daily to know the language flow and how to express the views. Reading will improve your ability to write in the most creative way.
  2. Try to pick the topics which are generally appearing in the exam such as articles on poverty, education, dowry, economic problems, politics, latest schemes introduced etc. Read the article carefully so that you can understand the basic facts as these topics are important and frequently asked in the exam.
  3. Divide your time accordingly, if there is summary writing or precis, try to finish in less than 15minutes and give rest of the time to Essay and letter writing which needs more time. These will take your thinking time besides writing on the given topic.
  4. Candidates should be thorough with grammar of the relevant language as grammatical errors will be penalized. Improve vocabulary by reading good articles in newspapers and magazines. Try to use the unfamiliar words while you are practicing writing skills. It will help you understand the meaning and usage of the difficult words.
